Biography

Prof. Dr. Frank Emmert, LL.M., FCIArb is a tenured professor of law and Director of the Center for International & Comparative Law at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. He obtained his original legal education (1st and 2nd state examination) in Munich, Germany, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maastricht, Netherlands, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, and Diploma in European Community Law and Human Rights Law from the Academy of European Law, Florence, Italy. He has taught courses for credit at leading universities in more than two dozen countries and is a frequent speaker at conferences and events around the world. More than 150 of his publications and presentations can be accessed free of charge on ResearchGate.

Professor Emmert is a founding member and legal advisor to PrepayWay. He is also a co-founder of The International Smart Mediation and Arbitration Institute (SmartArb), the Council on International Law and Politics (CILP), and the Blockchain Law Alliance (BLA). He has over 30 years of experience representing clients in international commercial and trade transactions and disputes, and, as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, is available to serve as an international arbitrator for commercial disputes.
